The Association
It has been a busy and productive start to the year within the Association.
The Board held its annual face-to-face meeting in February. We reviewed the Melbourne National Convention held in September 2014 and discussed the arrangements for Abhijata’s scheduled visit for May this year. Other matters included ways of promoting Iyengar yoga, the Association’s finances and marketing and communications. A report was presented by the Chair of each Committee in the Association. It was a very productive meeting with lots of good exchange of ideas.
All the Association committees meet a number of times in the year either face-to-face or via Skype. The Certification Committee, Teachers Committee and Ethics Committee have all held their initial meetings for the year. The All Assessors Meeting took place in Sydney at the end of February and was attended by all the Moderators and Assessors. There was lots of valuable discussion around all aspects of assessment and certification as well as a session on practice development.
Plans for the rest of the year are in place with assessments scheduled for May and October this year and the Association is thrilled to be welcoming Abhijata in May.
Abhijata’s Convention
Plans for Abhijata’s Convention are progressing well. Abhijata will be teaching in Sydney from 1-3 May at the Entertainment Quarter and the following weekend in NZ.
There will be a maximum of 400 participants and tickets are selling well. If you haven’t already booked for the Convention, click on:

Thank You
I would like to say a big THANK YOU to all the members who contributed towards Guruji’s birthday gift at the end of last year. A fantastic amount of $1556 was collected from members for the Bellur Trust. The Association contributed an additional $2000 with the result that the total amount donated by Australia was $3556. This money has been deposited into the Bellur Trust Fund account. A card with good wishes has been sent to Geetaji, Prashantji and Abhijata informing them of this donation.
Association Website
I would like to remind you that the Association website contains a wealth of valuable information including articles by the Iyengar family and Australian teachers/students, details for visits to Pune, Youtube clips of the Iyengars teaching various asanas, workshops and retreats and 101 complete issues of Yoga Vaani as well as our new online Yoga Vaani. This information is kept current and up to date.
We hope you enjoy this edition of Yoga Vaani and appreciate receiving thoughts, ideas and contributions as to how it can be improved.
Best regards
