Abhijata – known as Abhi – is 32. She is married with a two-year-old daughter.
She practised yoga as a child, but she said she did not take her practice seriously. “As it was in the family, I was acquainted with a few asanas and I would do headstand and shouldstand before my exams as I believed it would help me get better results. But that was all.”
She obtained a Bachelor of Science in Zoology in 2003 and a Masters in Bioinformatics in 2005.
The first international convention she taught was in France in 2011. She has since taught at about ten conventions.
